PLAINSPOKEN RECEIVES GLOBAL RECOGNITION AMID STRING OF FILM FESTIVAL SCREENINGS

The 2024 documentary film Plainspoken, a documentary exploring race relationships in the Deep South and set in the community of Plains, Georgia, a town unique for its international renown as the hometown of the late former President of the United States Jimmy Carter and his wife, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, has received its own global attention as it has landed official screenings in multiple film festivals in and outside of the United States, as well as various screenings for collegiate audiences around the country.

The film was most recently an official selection at the inaugural Film Invasion Lima film festival in Lima, Peru. This screening marked the South American premiere of Plainspoken. Andrew Greer, the director, writer, and co-producer of the film, also received the Grand Jury Award in the Best Writing-Documentary Featurette category for his writing of Plainspoken.

Film Invasion Lima showcases wonderful undiscovered films in one of South America’s most dynamic cities! FI-Lima has been created in association with the team behind The Discover Indie Film Foundation (DIFF), a California based nonprofit for the arts.  DIFF presents two festivals every year, Film Invasion Los Angeles (FI-LA) and Sherman Oaks Film Festival (SOFF).

Other screenings include the prestigious Justice Film Festival in New York City, New York, where the film screened alongside 2025 Academy Award nominee Sugarcane, and the longstanding Macon Film Festival in Macon, Georgia, where the film received honors for “Best Georgia Made”.
